The Triple Win: How Recruiters Make People Happy
At Percy, we believe that we are doing something remarkable. We are on a mission to humanize the hiring process, and make it work for everybody. There are times, of course, where I think about how a candidate getting a job impacts me and my bottom line. Then there are times, where I am so excited to hear the joy in a candidate’s voice after accepting the position they wanted most. As Glassdoor puts it, we genuinely want the best for everyone. At the end of the day, my manager always reminds me, if we do our job well, there will be three winners.
The Candidate
This one might be the most obvious. Percy is dedicated to helping someone find a job. When we succeed, there is someone who now has a job – who maybe didn’t have one at all before. We work with all sorts of candidates, who are looking for various things. I have had candidates who just started a new position but aren’t liking it, so they take my call. I have also had candidates who have been out of the workforce for a few months and are looking to rejoin the mortgage industry. Every candidate comes from a unique background and has a different story that led them to their current job search. Yet, they are all looking for the same result – a new job, and help getting them there. When we help find them their next opportunity, they get an exciting new job and a paycheck that might be badly needed. They win.
The Company
People (myself included) often think about the job search from the employee side, not the employer side. But when you peel back the layers, there is always a reason that job is open. It might be because someone who spent 20 years with the team just retired, or because they had made a bad hiring decision previously and had to let someone go. Either way, there is a team that is struggling to take on all the work that they need to do. They are searching for someone who can contribute early on and make an impact on the overall business, and the team culture. And hiring is HARD – and constant (it literally never ends)! So when we at Percy can come in and help take the stress and anxiety out of that process, it makes hiring simple. Not only is the process streamlined, but when working with Percy, the company is able to find a great new addition to the team. They win.
The Agency (AKA Percy)
I’m not going to lie. There is a rush when one of my candidates gets an offer. A big piece of that is knowing that they are going to be excited. But another piece of that, is knowing that we made money. When Percy makes money, that means I make money. When I make money, that means I can pay rent. You see where this is going… Overall, I know that a lot of people will be happy with this result – and I will get to be one of them! In essence, we all win.
